The Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) implemented by the Government of Niger required the redefinition, reorganization, and reorientation of sectoral development policies. The new sectoral strategies now focus on results-based management. In this perspective, MT/A has developed, with the financial support of the Spanish Cooperation for International Development (AECID) and technical support from the World Tourism Organization (OMT), a National Strategy for Sustainable Tourism Development (SNDDT).
In addition to its scope as a reference document for the programs and actions to be carried out by public authorities in partnership with other actors involved in the sector and the development of the country in general, the SNDDT aims to establish a diagnosis of tourism in Niger, to define the strategic guidelines and to identify the priority actions to be implemented over the next five years to make Niger's tourist destination competitive in West Africa and allow it to benefit from the benefits of tourism all. by avoiding its negative effects.
