Article 26 of the CBD requires parties to submit periodic national reports to the COPs, which assess the measures taken to implement the CBD as well as the effectiveness of these measures in order to meet the objectives of the convention. At the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 13) of the CBD, the guidelines as well as the drafting templates for the sixth national report (6NR) (Decision XIII/27) were adopted. The 6NR consists of seven sections (Table A), and the reporting guidelines require parties to assess the progress of national biodiversity goals and BPOs as well as the effectiveness of actions taken beginning with the implementation of NBSAPs.
