HAUSA NAMES FOR PLANTS AND TREES

Hausa is divided into numerous rather poorly defined dialects. However, apart from those recognised by linguists, where plants have been collected in a particular place we only have the name of the location with no idea how widespread the term is within the Hausa world as a whole. Table 1 shows the acronyms used in the tables for particular sites.
